During the month of May, St. Francis Hospital & Health Services will suspend their mammography program in preparation for initiating digital mammography service on June 7.
Marilyn Alexander, mammography technician at St. Francis Imaging Services, says the digital mammography project includes remodeling for a waiting area and installation of the new digital mammography machine.
“In addition to the renovations, we will also undergo training for the new equipment,” Alexander explains. “ And once the equipment is installed, it will have to pass an inspection to assure it meets regulatory requirements.”
The scheduling desk for mammogram appointments will remain open as appointments on the new digital unit are being scheduled. If, for any reason, there is a concern about waiting for an appointment until the renovations are complete, the Imaging Department will assist in securing an examination time at another facility as past films will need to accompany patients to the visit.
To schedule an appointment on the new digital mammography machine after June 7, call St. Francis Imaging Services at (660) 562-7907.
