With the flu season in full swing, the physicians and other medical professionals at St. Francis Family Health Care would like to remind everyone that it’s not too late to get a flu shot and of the importance of receiving the other adult vaccines.
Patients that have been seen at one of the St. Francis Family Health Care clinics in the last 12 months can receive an influenza vaccination by visiting any clinic: St. Francis Family Health Care at 2016 South Main, Maryville; St. Francis Orthopedic & Sports Medicine at 2016 South Main, Maryville; St. Francis Family Health Care – East Clinic at 114 E. South Hills Drive; West Nodaway Health Clinic at 221 East Main Street, Burlington Jct.; Grant City Medical Clinic at 24 West Fourth; and St. Francis Hardin Medical Clinic at 408 South Dodge, Bedford, IA. There will be no Saturday walk-in clinic offered this year.
Pneumococcal vaccine is indicated at least once for all individual 65 years old or older. Boosters are sometimes needed, but you should check with your provider about your need for a booster. Tetanus/diphtheria vaccines are to be boosted every 10 years and the use of tetanus/diphtheria/whooping cough vaccine is needed in those below at 65 in place of the tetanus/diphtheria vaccine. If infants under 12 months are frequently in the home, seniors should have the tetanus/diphtheria/whooping cough vaccine at the direction of their provider.
